Blue prints vs Blueprints

There are a few instances where we see expressions like this: ....Blue prints for success....

The correct expression is 'Blueprint' because this is the noun intended. The word 'Blue' is an adjective...well, it can be a verb as in ....I'm feeling blue....but usually it's used to describe some other word, such as, ....pass me the blue pen.
